Looking to the next 400 Years........
The Wolsingham 2014 Fundraising Wall

As we approach the 400th anniversary of our school in 2014, we pride ourselves on our rich heritage and traditions whilst embracing our future as a centre of learning and education in the modern world.
As part of our preparations for 2014 we are planning a range of events and projects to celebrate this unique milestone in the history of Wolsingham School. With this in mind we are now launching the Wolsingham 2014 Fundraising Wall. The Wall goes live today on our website. Click here to take a look, or use the 'Donate' link below left. By supporting the Fundraising Wall you will be contributing to the success of current students and the next 400 years of your community school.

Welcome to Wolsingham School & Community College
An inclusive 11 – 18 community school
Education is not a dress rehearsal and our students only get one chance. Here at WSCC we believe that the provision of high quality teaching and learning, in a caring, supportive and challenging environment, where each student is valued, is our core purpose. Our aim is for all our students to feel happy and safe, and to achieve the qualifications and develop the personal attributes that will enable them to lead successful and fulfilling lives. We wish our students to develop enquiring minds, a healthy lifestyle and to acquire the traditional values of respect, responsibility and consideration for others.

Academic and personal achievement in Year 11 and Sixth Form
Wolsingham School & Community College is a vibrant school at the heart of the Wear Valley community with a history and reputation extending back to 1614.
'Wolsingham is a good and improving school. The school community is notable for its highly positive relationships and has a sense of pride in the achievements of its students.' OFSTED 2011.
We are proud of being a truely comprehensive and inclusive school, where all students are able to achieve success in GCSE, A level and a range of vocational courses. As a school we aspire to high standards for our students in all that they do.
In 2011 Year 11 students achieved the best ever GCSE  % 5A*-C, continuing the trend of year-on-year improvement.  Our sixth form students showed the best ever achievement of their target grades and 38% of grades at A*-B grade. Due to excellent support, advice and guidance from the Sixth Form team, 92% of sixth form students achieved their first or second University choice – significantly higher than the national average.

A solid reputation since 1614

  • Members of the community frequently comment upon our students’ excellent behaviour.
A committed staff, determined to build on our solid reputation.
  • Active and ambitious governors who fully support our drive to achieve excellence in all we do.
Close partnership with partner primary schools, local business and the local community.
A broad curriculum and a supportive pastoral care and house system.
  • Working closely with students and parents as we strive to ensure that every student realises his or her potential.
